Biography I was born on November 25 in Houston, Texas at Jefferson Davis hospital. But not long after, my mom and I moved to San Diego, California to live with her parents while my dad remained in Texas to work. I can't remember much about San Diego other than the fact that we lived within walking distance of both the beach and my school. My sister, Elizabeth, was born there. Eventually we went back to Houston. I attended various HISD schools until midway through my third grade year when we moved to Stafford, a small city between Sugar Land and Missouri City. I can't remember much about my elementary school days other than I was very involved in both the choir and acting in plays that my school put on. In 6th grade, I joined the band and started playing percussion. That same year, my second sister, Theadora, was born. In middle school, I was involved in National Junior Honor Society, and I was on the cheerleading squad my 7th grade year. In 8th grade, I didn't return to the squad so I could concentrate on band. In high school, I continued on with band and became the percussion section leader from my sophomore to senior year. In marching band, I played snare drum and really enjoyed performing at halftime and competing with other schools at band competitions. Being in band is like being in a close-knit "cult;" everyone knows everyone else's business, but you make a ton of friends. My junior year I was involved in National Honor Society and was elected Secretary of NHS my senior year. In May 2002, I graduated with a 98.7 gpa, and I was ranked 14th out of 181 people in my graduating class. After graduating, I moved to Galveston to attend Texas A&M University at Galveston and study my first major choice, marine biology. It took me about 3 semesters and a plethora of tough classes to realize marine biology wasn't what I really wanted to do. In the mean time, my little brother, Ian, had been born, and my family moved to Tucson, Arizona. So, I transferred up to main campus in College Station and was admitted into Mays Business School as a Marketing major. Again, after a few classes, I decided the business world wasn't for me and joined the College of Education to study to be a Middle School teacher. It was what I wanted to be since I was a kid, and so many of my teachers have been inspirations to me that it just seemed like a natural choice. I have since found my niche and have enjoyed my time studying pedagogy. I can't wait to graduate and have my own classroom. I am a huge sports fan. Mainly football. I prefer NCAA football to NFL football and will always be an Aggie football fan. My favorite professional teams are the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, and San Diego Chargers (all places I have close ties to). When I'm not watching football -- in other words, my life is put on stand-still after the Pro Bowl until next season -- I enjoy horseback riding, playing computer games, reading, listening to music, going to concerts, watching movies and tv (mainly The Office). I love pets. I have one cat named P.T. ("Putty Tat" among several other nicknames) who lives in Arizona with my family. Here in Texas where I live with my aunt and uncle, I have several feline cousins: Sadie, Fannie, Sunny, Cooper, and Missy. At home with me, I have a Balinese named Chloe! My plans for the future? I am going to go back to Spring—a suburb north of Houston where I have been living with my wonderful aunt and uncle since my family's move -- to teach a few years. Hopefully after that I will move either to Austin, TX or NYC. I've always wanted to live up north despite the cold winters! I also plan on looking into opening my own business, an accessories store with several "unconventional" amenities. But for now, I'm just waiting to get my Aggie ring and my diploma! |
